Trip Report

An easy scramble. I actually ascended this peak already back in 2001 with Jeff, but it wasn't named yet! I ascended on a beautiful day in mid-January after a morning photo shoot in Banff.

[Morning photo of Mount Norquay reflecting in Vermillion Lakes near Banff.]

[Great view of the Exshaw plant on the way up Heart Mountain.]

[The trail is now well-marked - this is a very popular mountain.]

[Another great morning view of the Bow Valley corridor. I'm now on the traverse from Heart Mountain (in the background) to Grant MacEwan Peak.]

[Summit of Grant MacEwan.]

[Barrier Lake from the summit of Grant MacEwan Peak.]

[Vern on the summit of Grant MacEwan.]

[Looking back up at part of the traverse of Grant MacEwan. The peak is out of the picture on the upper right.]

[Another look back up the ridge.]

[A last look up at Heart Mountain as I complete the loop.]
