We tried Mount Lawrence Grassi on November 11 but we were turned around by high wind and very cold temperatures at the top. This time Sean, Taylor and I managed to get to the summit. There are no major difficulties on this moderate scramble - there is a good trail up the spine and to the summit.
Hanneke and I always look forward to the days that we get together in the hills. This one was a double bonus because we shipped the kids off on Friday night and attended a Christmas party! As you can see it was a very nice morning.
Here's a few shots from the first scramble I ever did in the Rockies. In the fall of 1999 we went with a group from the office. At the time I thought that this was one of the only peaks that you could do without ropes and stuff. Little did I know that there are hundreds of peaks that can be done with only a good set of lungs and some mountain 'smarts'.
East End of Rundle was a fun scramble. We were in a bit of a hurry because once again the weather was against us.
I started the scramble at around 9:00am and headed up the steep forested slopes above the drainage coming from the upper slopes. There was one truck already parked in the lot so I knew someone had already scared the wildlife for me! As I worked my way up the slopes I realized that I actually had quite a bit of energy.
